Corporate Connectivity Analysis

Connectivity Readiness Check

Commercial and residential AV systems are increasingly sophisticated and powerful. The transition from analog non-networked systems to digital networked systems is in full swing. End-users are also increasingly demanding. They want plug and play, fully interoperable audio, video, and media systems that are intuitive, reliable, flexible, and low cost.

Gear manufacturers who offer only analog, non-networked (or otherwise incompatible) AV components are losing market share and industry relevance. Competitors are passing them by with networkable gear that “plays well with others.” Manufacturers who don’t yet have compatible state of the industry products need to make fundamental business decisions now in response to the rapidly changing market. Do you embrace the technological, cultural, and business changes that are occurring now, or are you wiling to risk extinction at the hands of more progressive competitors? It may sound ominous, but we believe that there is no middle ground.  Are You Ready for Connectivity?

The new Connectivity Readiness Check™ (CRC)—a diagnostic program from Lab X Technologies and Stiernberg Consulting—helps you answer this question definitively. Combining over 25 years of systems integration industry experience, we help AV manufacturers by assessing your current situation and making specific and targeted recommendations for how you can meet the challenges head on and potentially leapfrog competitors. The CRC is fast, confidential, and low cost—a natural next step in establishing or developing your product development and business development strategies in the interoperability era.

Connectivity Design Assessment

The world of A/V connectivity is rapidly evolving. New technologies are creating exciting new opportunities in existing product lines as well as spawning entirely new product concepts. Yet, at the same time, these same technologies are raising new questions.

Lab X Technologies, regarded as the leading experts in connectivity, is being called upon more and more to help work with clients to crystallize their connectivity strategies, and answer the myriad of questions evolving technologies may pose. As a response to this growing, common scenario, Lab X has created our Connectivity Design Assessment (CDA) as a way to quickly and cost effectively work with a manufacture to identify key connectivity needs, and create a platform specific strategy for utilizing the appropriate network transport(s).

OEM Network "MIX" Modules

Lab X is the "Switzerland of Connectivity".  There are a number of digital audio transports in the industry, and Lab X prides ourselves in our expertise in them.  We strive to provide flexibility for our clients, thus we developed the MIX (Module Interface Cross Platform) module family.  By utilizing a common electrical and mechanical footprint, coupled with Lab X's Universal Host Interface (UHI), products can be manufactured to support various digital audio transports.  Each transport has various pros / cons, and Lab X strives to provide the appropriate technology for our clients' needs.

MIX Evaluation Kit (MEK)

Lab X has developed the MIX Evaluation Kit offers a convenient, compreshensive method to explore the flexibility of Lab X's MIX family of digital audio network modules.  The MEK is all you need to evaluate and prototye the leading digital audio network transports, just by swapping network modules!  Uses include prototype / proof of concept, engineering evaluation, reference design, production line test platform and more.  Lab X MIX Test Fixtures (MTFs) - which include USB connections to PC MIX Demonstrator software, Lab X network modules, cables, and Ethernet all in a convenient carrying case.

Download the complete MIX Evaluation Kit Product Bulletin (with pricing and required NDA).  NOTE:  Modules used for evaluation purposes in the MIX Evaluation Kit may NOT be used in final product for production purposes.  Many of Lab X network modules require license agreements from the corresponding technology providers.  As such, a blanket NDA must be executed and received by prior to the purchase of a MEK.

ANX Pro16™ A-Net Pro16 Network Interface Module

The ANX Pro16 is a member of the Lab X MIX network interface module family.  The ANX Pro16 utilizes a flexible FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) to interface to the Aviom A-Net Pro16 1600 ASIC.  This Aviom certified solution provides customers the ability to send audio to the very popular Aviom A16 personal mixers.

ESX-100™ ES-100 EtherSound  Network Interface Module

The ESX-100 is a second generation EtherSound implimentation featuring ES-100 support for ring redundant topologies.  The ESX-100 is a flexible network interface platform that utilizes a powerful FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) core to provide EtherSound™ network connectivity with customer defined audio I/O and GPIO configuration. The ESX-100's electrical and mechanical interface is compatible other Lab X MIX network I/O modules (and Cirrus Logic CM-1/CM-2 modules), thus offering a migration path for existing systems to EtherSound™ with only minimal modifications to host interface code.

MADIX™ MADI (AES-10)  Network Interface Module

The MADIX is a member of the Lab X MIX network interface module family which impliments MADI (Multichannel Audio Digital Interface, AES-10).  Featuring fiber as well as coaxial connections, the MADIX provides 64 channels of digital audio in both directions.  The MADIX is a flexible network interface platform that utilizes a powerful FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) core to provide Lab X's own MADI implimentation IP.  The MADIX's electrical and mechanical interface is compatible other Lab X MIX network I/O modules (and Cirrus Logic CM-1/CM-2 modules), thus offering products to be developed with flexible I/O interfaces with only minimal modifications to host interface code.
